We are seeking an experienced professional or a recent engineering graduate to join our Planning & Climate Resilience team and contribute to long-term infrastructure planning.

 

Based in Shepparton, you will play a vital role in planning for the Corporation’s water and sewer networks and water treatment plants, ensuring our assets have the capacity and capability to meet service standards amid population growth and emerging challenges. Your work will directly influence GVW’s ability to reliably service our customers – now and into the future.

 

An engineering qualification is essential, and experience in the water industry or capability in building and using hydraulic models will be highly regarded.

 

We’re looking for someone who is analytical, proactive and able to collaborate across the business to deliver evidence-based planning that shapes the future or our water infrastructure.

 

About your new role...

As a key technical specialist, you’ll play a critical role in planning our future infrastructure needs, supporting operational teams and guiding strategic investment decisions.


This is an excellent opportunity to develop long term infrastructure plans for our operational footprint where we provide water and wastewater services to more than 50,000 households and more than 130,000 people in our region.


Your strong communication skills and passion for sustainable, long term solutions will ensure success in this role.


This position is based in Shepparton and includes some travel across GVW sites. Flexible work arrangements are available, where operationally appropriate, in line with GVW policy.   

About you...

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or Chemical / Process)
  • Professional Engineering Registration (Victoria) or actively working towards become registered is desirable
  • Experience in the Water Industry or similar with an emphasis on future asset planning
  • Knowledge and understanding of software systems including experience in hydraulic modelling and the use of water and sewer hydraulic modelling software is desirable
  • Knowledge and understanding of design and operations of water and sewer networks is desirable
  • Understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes is desirable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including written and presentation skills.
  • Highly capable in liaising with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external 
  • Strong OHS commitment and focus.
  • Committed to contributing positively to your team and the organisation.

Please note all applicants must be an Australian Citizen, permanent resident or a visa permitting you to work in Australia and hold a current driver's licence.
 

Recently graduated engineers with a strong desire to work in the Water Industry will also be considered (initially at a lower classification).

  • Classification GVW3: $80,137 - $97,767 + superannuation (starting salary point is negotiable dependent upon relevant, qualifications, skills, and experience demonstrated)
