Supporting a continued period of growth, we are seeking a Senior Operational Engineer to lead our capital planning and operational advisory function within the Operational Support & Integration team.

 

This newly established leadership opportunity will play a critical role in shaping how operational engineering support minor capital works, major maintenance programs and asset acquisitions are planned, delivered and integrated across our service region.

 

Working closely with Service Delivery, Asset Management, Capital Delivery and Planning teams, you will provide strategic engineering leadership, drive continuous improvement and ensure our operational assets continue to deliver safe, reliable and efficient services to our customers and communities.

About your new role...

As Senior Operational Engineer, you will lead the delivery of operational engineering advice and program oversight across water and wastewater operations.

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Lead the operational engineering, capital planning, and advisory function across Service Delivery.
  • Provide strategic technical advice and represent Service Delivery in master planning, project planning, and program management forums to enable operational effectiveness
  • Manage and mentor a small team, including an Operational Engineer and specialist consultants, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and high performance.
  • Lead project management activities including business cases, planning, resource management, contract administration and oversite of minor capital, major maintenance and asset acquisition programs to support operational performance and service reliability.
  • Drive innovation, process improvements and the adoption of new technologies and practices across Service Delivery.

 

 

This position can be based in Shepparton or Seymour and will require some travel across GVW’s service region. Flexible work arrangements are available, where operationally appropriate, in line with GVW policy.

About you...

We're looking for someone with:

    • Degree or higher in Engineering (mechanical, civil or environmental)
    • Degree or higher in Project/Contract Management (or equivalent) preferred.
    • Proficient in using asset management and work planning systems.
    • Experience in project, program and contract management
    • High level expertise and knowledge relevant to water and wastewater infrastructure
    • Well developed stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
    • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making capabilities.
    • Sound computer skills including experience working with Project Management Systems
    • Sound knowledge of safety practices associated with project, program and contract management.

  • Classification SEO1: $128,605 - $149,464 + superannuation (starting salary point is negotiable dependent upon relevant qualifications, skills and experience demonstrated).
