In this leadership role, you will support the Manager, Team Leader, and Senior Operators in guiding the Southern Wastewater process team, providing on-the-ground direction and fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and service excellence.
With extensive experience in operations and maintenance, you will play a key role in overseeing wastewater treatment operations and maintenance, ensuring efficient service delivery while mentoring employees and contractors. Your flexibility allows you to meet standby and after-hours requirements, and your technical expertise ensures a strong field presence across GVW.
Balancing field operations with administrative tasks, you will assist with daily planning, budgeting, customer inquiries, and compliance with safety and maintenance procedures. About your new role...
You will oversee daily operations including operations and preventative maintenance activities of the Southern District (Seymour) of GVW’s service area, balancing field leadership with administrative tasks such as planning, budgeting, customer inquiries, and safety compliance.
With a strong field presence, your experience in wastewater treatment operation and maintenance enables you to guide employees and contractors in preventative maintenance, investigations, and projects, ensuring team and organizational goals are met.
This role offers an opportunity to develop your leadership skills, supporting the team to perform at a high level with guidance from the Manager and Team Leader.
About you...
To be considered for this role you must have demonstrated some of the following:
- Certificate 3 in Water Industry Operations (essential).
- Certificate 4 in Water Industry Operations – Wastewater Treatment (preferred).
- Experience in wastewater within the Water Industry or similar industry (minimum 3 years).
- Strengths in communication and interpersonal skills that allows you to mentor individuals, support teams and allocate tasks to team members
- Experience working as part of an on call/duty roster
- Strong OHS commitment and focus.
- Ability to work effectively, or learn quickly, with computer-based technology, including Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational, self-management and problem-solving skills.
- Adaptable, hands on and enjoy working outdoors and in all elements

- Classification GVW3: $75,536 - $92,155 + super (salary starting point is dependent upon relevant qualifications, skills, and experience)
