About the Company
Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) provides quality water and wastewater services to 54 towns in North Central Victoria. Our core purpose is to deliver safe, reliable, and affordable water services to residential, commercial and industrial customers.
With a background in water treatment, you will ably support the Manager – Water Treatment and Team Leader to lead the Water Treatment team, providing daily direction and feedback relating to water process activities.
Taking on this leadership role will be both rewarding and challenging and you will strive to positively influence the team in the areas of process, performance, and safe work practices whilst ensuring our focus is on meeting customer service standards and service levels.
Coordinating the team in preventative maintenance, investigations and project work, you will also provide significant field presence to guide employees and contractors in undertaking operational activities, ultimately ensuring team and organisational outcomes are achieved.
This opportunity presents as the beginning of your leadership journey. Your experience in water treatment and with guidance from the Manager and Team Leader, allows you to support individuals and the team to perform their roles to a high level as a cohesive unit.
About your new role...
You will balance a significant field presence with administrative requirements such as the effective planning and organisation of daily activities, assisting in the preparation of budgets, responding to customer enquiries, and ensuring the review of plant operation, preventative maintenance and safety procedures are executed effectively.
This role coordinates the day-to-day activities including operation and maintenance of water treatment plants in the Southern region (Seymour) of GVW’s service area.
Water treatment operators have an essential role in the production of safe drinking water and this role presents as a great opportunity for someone wishing to demonstrate their experience, impart that onto others whilst commencing or continuing your career in leadership
About you...
To be considered for this role you must have demonstrated some of the following:

- Certificate 3 in Water Industry Operations (essential)
- Certificate 4 in Water Industry Operations – Treatment (preferred)
- Experience in Water Operations (preferably treatment) within the Water Industry or similar industry (minimum 3 years)
- Completion of or willingness to complete the following: recognised leadership course, Confined Space Entry, Competency in Breathing Apparatus, Working at Heights and First Aid
- Experience working as part of an on call/duty roster
- Strong OHS commitment and focus.
- Ability to support teams and allocate tasks to team members
- Ability to work effectively, or learn quickly, with computer-based technology, including Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational, self-management and problem-solving skills.
- Adaptable, hands on and enjoy working outdoors and in all elements

- Classification GVW3: $80,137 - $97,767 + super (salary starting point is dependent upon relevant qualifications, skills, and experience)
