About the Company

Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) provides quality water and wastewater services to 54 towns in North Central Victoria. Our core purpose is to deliver safe, reliable, and affordable water services to residential, commercial and industrial customers.

 

A rare and exciting opportunity presents for an experienced farming professional to support our Farm Coordinator in leading, managing and directing the commercial farming activities.

 

Our Shepparton farm, Elderslie Park, is our largest with an agricultural area of 650ha. Outside of Elderslie Park, GVW operates 23 other smaller farms, located from Cobram in the North and Merrijig in the South.

 

Your focus will be on leading the agricultural operations of those smaller farms outside of Elderslie Park and represents a fantastic opportunity to apply your specialist skills to lead a small team providing best practice sustainable, efficient and profitable commercial farming expertise corporation wide.

 

Drawing upon your agricultural experience, sound knowledge of water and wastewater you will provide a hands-on approach to managing farming activities including sheep, cattle and irrigation.

 

You will set the standard for safe working practice and your success in the role will be derived from your ability to provide specialist farming skills and expertise to lead the management of farms.

 

A qualification in Agriculture is required (or you will be supported to complete) and will be complimented with your proven experience.

About your new role...

As Team Leader Farming, you will:

 

  • Provide leadership and direction to the farming team, ensuring daily operations run smoothly.
  • Support the Farm Coordinator and other Team Leader Farming (Elderslie Park) in planning, resourcing and delivering farming activities aligned with GVW’s strategic goals.
  • Lead by example in promoting safety, wellbeing and GVW’s values across all farming operations.
  • Deliver specialist advise and support in irrigated farming, livestock management, cropping and farm maintenance.
  • Coordinate reactive, planned and preventative works while ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
  • Assist with budgeting, asset management and performance reporting to drive profitability and sustainability.
  • Plan and deliver small agricultural capital improvement programs.

 

 

With a solid background in the farming sector or similar environment and proven leadership in operations or works environments you would be a great addition to a dedicated team who will value your expertise and ability to encourage and support their growth.

About you...

To be considered for this role you must have demonstrated some of the following:

  • Certificate 4 or above in Agriculture, (or willingness to commence and complete studies within 2 years) or a lessor or comparable qualification with a minimum of 7 year’s experience relevant to the industry.
  • Certificate 4 or above in Leadership or Management (or equivalent) or willing to commence studies with a commitment to complete within 2 years.
  • Extensive experience in the farming sector, or similar industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team in an operational and/or works environment
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate team members
  • Demonstrated experience in problem solving with a solutions focus
  • A strong safety value aligned to commitment and focus.

  • Classification: Applicants who meet the essential qualifications and experience criteria will be recognised at GVW4 (from $99,371). Applicants not meeting all of the essential criteria will commence at GVW3 top of band ($97,767) and progress to GVW4 once essentially qualified and suitably experienced.
