We are seeking an experienced and motivated Technical Officer – Electrical and Automation to join our Operations Control and Maintenance (OCM) team. This is a key role responsible for undertaking and overseeing new and existing work on GVW’s electrical, instrumentation and automation installations.

About your new role...
As a Technical Officer – Electrical and Automation, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety and performance of GVW’s critical electrical, instrumentation and automation assets across our water and wastewater networks. Working closely with Operations, Asset Management and Project Delivery teams, you will support both new and existing installations, helping to deliver essential services to our regional communities.
In this role, you will:
- Undertake electrical maintenance, fault finding and repairs across water and wastewater facilities
- Support the approval, installation and commissioning of new and upgraded electrical and automation systems
- Work with instrumentation, PLC-controlled systems, telemetry and SCADA infrastructure to optimise operational performance and support informed operational decision-making
- Install, configure, calibrate and maintain instrumentation including level sensors, flow meters and water quality monitoring equipment.
- Assist with PLC programming, automation upgrades, local HMIs and control system maintenance
- Interpret, maintain and update electrical drawings, PLC records and technical documentation
- Coordinate and work alongside contractors and internal stakeholders to deliver maintenance and project activities
- Participate in an on-call availability roster and support operational responses as required
This position is based in Seymour and is responsible for supporting electrical and automation assets across GVWs Southern service area. This role requires regular travel throughout the region including Seymour, Alexandra, Euroa, Nagambie and surrounding areas. Flexible work arrangements are available, where operationally appropriate, in line with GVW policy.
About you...
We're looking for someone with:

- Certificate IV or higher in Electrotechnology, or a lesser qualification combined with a minimum of 7 year’s relevant experience
- Current A Grade Electrical Licence
- Demonstrated experience in industrial electrical, instrumentation or process control environments, including motor control, PLC systems and process measurement applications
- Experience with industrial instrumentation, calibration, process measurement systems and/or water quality monitoring equipment will be highly regarded
- Experience working with PLCs, SCADA, telemetry, instrumentation and/or automation systems
- Ability to read, understand and update electrical drawings and technical documentation
- Sound understanding of electrical standards, regulations and safe work practices
- Experience undertaking fault finding, maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical and control systems
- Extensive experience using computer applications software/mobile applications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to Occupational Health and Safety, customer service and continuous improvement

- Classification GVW4: $102,352 - $123,812+ superannuation (starting salary point is negotiable dependent upon relevant, qualifications, skills, and experience demonstrated)

- 12 Rostered Day’s Off (RDO’s) per year
