Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) provides quality water and wastewater services to 54 towns in North Central Victoria. Our core purpose is to deliver safe, reliable, and affordable water services to residential, commercial and industrial customers.
We are looking for a Water Treatment Operator to join the Southern Water Treatment team and play a role in ensuring the continuous supply of safe clean drinking water to our customers.
Perhaps you have some water industry experience, or you are someone who has the capability from existing relevant skills and experience to transition quickly into the role.
Based in Seymour you will work with the Corporation’s Water Treatment Plants and facilities in our service areas including Nagambie, Euroa, Seymour, Broadford and Kilmore where you will be responsible for providing the community with safe and quality water.
In this role you will use modern technology and equipment to monitor and maintain water treatment systems. You’ll be hands on with plant and mechanical operations while demonstrating a strong focus on safety requirements.
We develop and train our water industry operatives and will support you to achieve a nationally recognised water industry qualification that will grow your skills and assist you to confidently undertake the role.
About your new role...
Join a small, supportive team in a dynamic outdoor environment and play a key role in managing the Corporations Southern water treatment operations. Your work will help ensure safe, high-quality water for our communities.
In this hands-on role, you’ll assist with preventative and routine maintenance, operate and optimise treatment systems, and contribute to new projects. You’ll also complete regular administrative tasks and respond to customer enquiries.
Confidence with information technology, or a willingness to learn is essential and will assist you to use modern technology to monitor and manage treatment plants
Whether you are an experienced operator looking for a change or someone ready to start a new career, we’ll provide full training and support. Bringing an appetite to learn, positive attitude a commitment to safety and ability to transfer existing skills to this role, you will learn to run our water treatment plants which provides the community with its potable water supply.

About you...
To be considered for this role you must have demonstrated some of the following:
- Minimum Year 11 education or appropriate trade qualification.
- Understanding of, or willingness to learn hydraulics and mechanical plant operations.
- Demonstrated commitment, ability and experience in resolving customer enquiries whilst providing a strong customer focus.
- Physically capable of performing operational and maintenance tasks.
- Ability to carry out mathematical calculations and interpret results.
- Knowledge of, or willing to learn standardised laboratory procedures and practices.
- Experience with, or ability to learn quickly computer-based systems.
- Commitment to working as part of an on-call roster for overtime and emergency work as required.
- Strong OHS commitment and focus.
- Committed to contributing positively to your team and the organisation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational, self-management and problem-solving skills.
- Adaptable, hands on and enjoy working outdoors and in all elements.
